At heySlim, your safety and well-being are our top priorities. While we aim to help as many people as possible, our treatments are not suitable for everyone. To ensure your safety, we have specific eligibility criteria based on established medical guidelines.
Our Eligibility Process
Your pre-eligibility is determined during our confidential online consultation. The questions you answer about your health, medical history, and lifestyle allow our clinical team to assess whether our GLP-1 treatments are a safe and appropriate option for you. Final decisions for eligibility are determined by our doctors during medical review, who may contact you for any additional information they need.
Who can join
Standard pathway (new to weight-loss medication):
You’ll generally need a BMI of ≥27 to start treatment.
Maintenance-friendly pathway (already used GLP-1 / GIP medicines):
If you have previously used—or are currently using—weight-loss medication, you can join our program with a BMI of ≥22 (subject to clinician approval).
Disqualifying Conditions
Our treatments are not suitable for individuals with certain conditions. You may not be eligible if you have a personal or family history of any of the following:
- Pregnancy: Currently pregnant, trying to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
- Thyroid Cancer: Personal or family history of Medullary Thyroid Carcinoma (MTC) or Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2).
- Pancreatitis: A current or past history of pancreatitis.
- Diabetes: A diagnosis of Type 1 Diabetes.
- Cancer: Currently undergoing active treatment for cancer.
- Eating Disorders: A history of eating disorders such as anorexia or bulimia.
- Severe Organ Issues: A history of severe heart, kidney, or liver problems.
- Digestive Issues: A history of chronic malabsorption syndrome.
- Allergies: A known allergy or hypersensitivity to any GLP-1 medication (e.g., semaglutide, tirzepatide).
Prescribing floor (minimum BMI to continue):
We can prescribe down to a BMI of 21.
If your BMI falls below 21.5, we’ll notify you that your prescriber may need to adjust your plan.
If your BMI reaches 21.0 or lower by your next check-in, your prescriber may pause or stop treatment for safety.
Note: The above thresholds guide eligibility, but your clinician may recommend different actions based on your overall health, progress, and risk profile.
Why We Have These Restrictions
These guidelines are in place to protect your health and ensure the effectiveness of our treatments. By adhering to strict medical standards, we can provide the highest level of safe and responsible care.
What If I'm Not Eligible?
If our treatments are not a suitable option for you, it is for your safety. We recommend speaking with your GP or another healthcare professional who can offer personalised advice and explore other weight management options that may be more appropriate for your specific circumstances.
Your health is our primary concern, and we are committed to guiding you toward the most effective and appropriate solution for you.
